Join us for a deep-dive Masterclass exploring an EnerPHit by Components project currently under construction. With few UK examples of this pathway, the session offers a rare opportunity to examine the method in practice—from design intent through to on-site delivery and certification. We’ll look closely at the Sea View project’s technical development, including floor upgrades, envelope strategy, THERM calculations, PHPP progress, and the practical challenges of implementing the Component method on a first Passive House Designer project. The certifier will also share insights drawn from wider retrofit experience, placing the project within the broader context of EnerPHit practice.

Learning outcomes
  1. Recognise the benefits of a EnerPHit retrofit of a social housing project case study.
  2. Understand how the choice of retrofit process and/or certification impacts on project cost and performance gap.
  3. Have an awareness of how adding ‘social value’ to your project might support the buisiness case for EnerPHit retrofit.

This webinar will explore how EnerPHit and Passivhaus methodologies can be used as practical delivery frameworks for achieving net zero performance in existing school buildings, using the retrofit and extension of a Victorian primary school in Scotland as a detailed case study. Covering everything from procurement and funding to early-stage modelling and heritage constraints through to fabric upgrades, building services, contractor collaboration and lessons learned on site, the session will examine how performance assurance, operational energy reduction and embodied carbon considerations can be successfully balanced within a public-sector education project.
