The Passivhaus Bitesize course introduces the key principles of what makes a good low energy, comfortable building, based on the Passivhaus standard. It is delivered in a series of half-day online sessions, making it perfect for those with a busy work timetable.
Please note: completing this course does not qualify participants for Certified Passivhaus (CEPH) Designer status. If you wish to become a CEPH Designer, please take the Full Designer Course.
Who are the Bitesize sessions for?
This course is aimed principally at building professionals in the UK: architects, builders, structural and services engineers, quantity surveyors and potential clients – all can learn how to deliver real low energy buildings. It introduces the principles behind the Passivhaus standard and for achieving low energy performance. Unlike the full Passivhaus Designer course and exam, these sessions do not require calculations, but show the principles behind the standard so that every member of the design team can understand what the Passivhaus Designer on the team is doing.
What does the course involve?
Live online workshop sessions run from 10am-2pm every Wednesday for four weeks.
Each session will be delivered by two of our team of experienced Passivhaus experts.
Please view the lesson materials before each session, and print the exercises.
The final session offers the opportunity for you to bring your own examples to the table – if you’d like to submit plans or drawings, please contact the tutors in advance.
Construction for Passivhaus 3 March 2021, 10:00 AMHow do I build a Passivhaus? How is it different from normal construction? This half-day session answers these questions, along with some specific guidance on achieving the level of airtightness and thermal bridge-free construction required by the standard.
Putting Passivhaus into practice 17 March 2021, 10:00 AMThis session has been developed due to demand from participants for feedback on their own designs from experienced Passivhaus designers and certifiers, and is modelled on the architectural 'crit' session, where designs are presented and discussions follow about the critical design decisions made.
