Mike Whitfield Construction Ltd is based in South Herefordshire. Mike first worked on a carefully designed energy efficient building in 1996, and since then has been on a steadily improving journey. In 2005 we were main contractors on the conversion of 2 barns into offices for the sustainable architects Architype, a project which won the 2007 RIBA Sustainability Award. By the time PH became known in the UK, we were already using many of the principles, and in 2010 when we started our first project that had been designed using PHPP, it was a natural progression for us. Since then we have worked almost exclusively on retrofits, extensions and new builds to PH principles. Mike has spoken on construction methods and detailing at AECB and UK Passivhaus conferences.
