Miltiadou Cook Mitzman architects llp
At Miltiadou Cook Mitzman Architects (MCMa), we embrace positive action to the environment and promoting sustainable architecture.
Working with buildings across many sectors and of different ages, including heritage and new-build, we take pride in a craft-based approach.
Our sustainable design approach focuses on optimising resources, following lean principles for efficiency and minimising waste. We prioritise environmental responsibility through clean and green practices, reducing demand, integrating renewable energy, and using eco-friendly materials and green technologies.
We also adhere to ‘Long Life, Loose Fit, and Low Energy’ principles, ensuring durability, adaptability, and low energy consumption over time. This results in sustainable designs that meet immediate needs while positively impacting the environment and communities in the long term, with enduring designs where people thrive.
We are signatories of Architects Declare, participating in the Regenerative Design Index, and have delivered community workshops on retrofit for heritage buildings.
The sustainable ethos is deeply ingrained in our team, with Partners Rupert and Socrates leading the approach. Rupert, a certified PassivHaus designer, champions sustainability, not only in his professional designs but also in his own home, which is designed to meet EnerPHit the retrofit passivhaus standard. Socrates is currently retrofitting his listed georgian townhouse in Bloomsbury to near EnerPHit standards, and maximising the use of bio-based materials.
